Praeter is not an official Northwestern University service, product, or publication. It is not created, endorsed, sponsored, reviewed, or approved by Northwestern University or by any of its schools, departments, student organizations, or employees. References to Northwestern, its courses, its majors, or campus events are descriptive only and do not imply any affiliation. All Northwestern names and marks belong to their respective owners.

No real money and no gambling

Praeter operates entirely with virtual cents, which have no monetary value.

• Virtual cents are granted to accounts for free. They cannot be purchased, deposited, transferred for value, redeemed, withdrawn, or exchanged for real money, goods, services, or anything else of value.
• No payment processor is integrated into the Platform, and the Platform does not accept or hold funds of any kind.
• Praeter is not a securities exchange, commodities exchange, prediction market with real-money settlement, broker, dealer, betting operator, or gambling service, and is not registered or licensed as any of these.

Not advice

Nothing on Praeter is financial, investment, legal, academic, medical, or professional advice. Market questions, prices, odds, resolution outcomes, and any commentary displayed on the Platform are user-generated or illustrative and should not be relied on as a statement of fact or as a prediction of any real-world event.

User-generated content

Market questions, resolution rules, sources, notes, and images on the Platform may be proposed and submitted by users. We review submissions before markets go live, but we do not verify the accuracy, completeness, legality, or originality of user-submitted content, and we do not endorse it.

If you believe content on Praeter infringes your rights, is defamatory, or is otherwise unlawful, contact us at contact@praeters.co with a description of the content, its location on the Platform, and your contact information, and we will review it.

External links

The Platform may contain links to external websites, including sources submitted by users as evidence for market resolution. We have no control over the content of external sites and accept no responsibility for them. Following an external link is at your own risk.

Intellectual property

Except for user-submitted content and third-party materials, the Platform's design, code, text, and graphics are the property of the operator. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute them without permission.

Availability

Praeter is provided free of charge, on an "as is" and "as available" basis, as a student project. We make no guarantee of uptime, data preservation, or continued operation, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Platform, or reset virtual balances and markets, at any time.

Governing law

This Legal Notice and any dispute arising out of or relating to the Platform are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois will have exclusive jurisdiction.
